Description: I love Bethanie’s DVD and she happens to be my sister whom I’m very proud of... what can I say! ;) (Cover design and photography done by my other sister Ruth Thorogood www.thorogoodcommunications.com whom I’m also proud of!) Bethanie writes: Everything’s going to be alright, trust Him, keep walking…

Stepping through life moment by moment, each of us is hoping to find meaning, to make a difference, to touch the hearts of people that surround us for the better. I am no different. Life’s brought hurt, love, challenge, and victory. Grabbing a hold of these moments, I hope to use them, living out each day with passion. To have passion means to feel – to risk – to dream – to live.

I felt this passion growing up in Africa. Living there I was surrounded by incredible beauty and gruesome ugliness. Each definitely left their effects on my heart. My best friend was a girl named Bebe. She lived in a mud hut. Her favorite toy was a clay doll dressed in banana leaves. She had nothing, but, her face always shone with a smile. Some of our favorite things to do included: packing up tea, bread & butter, and bananas in a tin, hiking up to the mountain overlooking the valley, and having breakfast as the sun rose. We also tied strings from paper boats to giant flying black beetles, and watched the boats skim across the lake when the beetles took off. We found laughter in the silliest things but I will never forget my feelings of inadequacy as I watched my friends little sister die from malaria which could have been prevented by a small pill. The memories of Arica haunt me in a bittersweet way. While I’m thankful to learn that I can smile through every pain and find the good, I’ve always longed to search out a way to give back and provide for the children in some way.

With this dream in mind, I’ve decided to give using what I have, music. Putting together works that I’ve written throughout my life, I‘ve compiled a CD. All proceeds from this project will go to various charities around the world changing the lives of these children for good, and as you enjoy the music, you can also enjoy knowing that you’re a part of touching others lives with beauty.

This first CD is called “stillwalk”. Each moment of putting this CD together has been an experiment in perseverance as producing a disk is something I’ve never done before. The CD reflects my desire to live out life’s passions. It sings about feelings, the risks, the dreams, the life that I’ve had and the future I look forward to. I would hope that as you listen, the melody and words will carry you beyond yourself, to find the beauty and smile in the everyday. And when the last note fades you would leave better and happier for having turned the CD on. We only have one lifetime – don’t waste it. Grab a hold of your dreams and passionately walk them into a tomorrow’s reality. More coming on www.stillwalk.ca
